Review last meeting ‘Feedback/Input/Questions portion of notes with review of Student Perception Survey
Use last meeting info to discuss where to center next change idea/work
FEEDBACK/INPUT/QUESTIONS:
Student Perception Survey:
How much ‘vetting’ happened w/the survey?
How much can the data be disaggregated?
What percentage are the wedges not with them?
How many years of student perception survey data do we have?
How do students' perceptions change from freshman to senior years?
‘I see myself ‘not at all’ pg 15–is it correlated in any way with ‘connected to an adult’ pg3? Are they correlated with ‘do you have an adult you can talk to?’
Did OCHS use a different/specific student survey?
Cell Phones:
Student feedback-
I was freaked out about how other students would react
It is a way to keep myself entertained when I run out of things to do
I like it when the student next to me can use theirs because they are less distracting
I do think it is going good
There are differences between teachers on how they enforce
I do understand why we need expectations for cell phones
Staff & parent feedback-
Should we survey the staff about how the cell phone expectations are working?
It is a waste of time to police when there are students who want to learn
Parents understand why we have implemented expectations
Recruitment of Staff of Color:
Who is ultimately responsible for submitting State Report Card numbers? (staff equity does not match report card numbers)
How is our HR department approaching the recruitment of staff of color?
Microaggressions:
How do we ‘tease apart’ student culture, staff awareness and microaggressions?
Do staff need PD on this?
How do we educate staff and students?
Action Items:
Solicit all affinity groups (GSA also) and No Place for Hate about microaggression discussion
Ask the Equity Committee why they used the questions they did? (from No Place for Hate)
