OCHS Counseling Appointments

The Counseling Office has an open-door policy for all of our students during the school year. When a student would like to talk to their counselor, they may visit our offices at any time before school, after school, during breaks, and at lunch.

Students can sign up online to make an appointment if their counselor is unavailable. You will find Student Appointment links below.

Due to the many changing events that happen during the day, counselors are unable to take parent walk-ins. To set up a parent appointment, please email your student’s counselor directly.

Counseling

Role of the School Counselor

Parents, the press, administrators and the general public often wonder just what it is that school counselors do on a daily basis. Gone are the days of school counselors sitting in their office simply handing out college applications, making schedule changes for students who want to drop a class or meeting with the troublemakers in the school. Today's school counselors are vital members of the education team. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development, insuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow.      (American School Counseling Association, 2013)

Philosophy

Oregon City School District believes that the Comprehensive School Counseling Program is an essential and integral component of each and every student’s educational experience. The ultimate goal of the Comprehensive School Counseling Program is that each student will graduate with the personal, academic, career-related skills and knowledge to be able to make self-directed, realistic, and responsible decisions. This implementation acknowledges that school counseling is a program coordinated with other educators and community partners incorporating a comprehensive curriculum.

The OCSD counseling program, when fully implemented will provide:

  • A school-counseling program that reaches the needs of all of the students.

  • The school-counseling program utilizes data to evaluate the program and create preventative components.

  • Identification and achievement of student competencies and outcomes through the school-counseling program.

  • Advocate for the equity, access, and success of every student.

Mission Statement

The mission of OCSD Counseling Department is to maximize the potential of all students by insuring their academic, career, and personal/social development. These efforts are designed to equitably help all students become responsible members of society.
