Sub-Saharan Africa: Reframing the Past, Reimaging the Future

This program is open to students in grades 9-12. Students that complete all requirements for the program may earn 0.25 honors social studies elective credit.
International Seminar is an extra-curricular course designed for advanced students who are interested in comprehensive, interdisciplinary learning experiences about different regions of the world. Each year, the focus varies.
Students work in small groups led by dedicated team leaders and participate in a variety of learning events.
The team of group leaders are looking forward to the following activities (and more!):
A field trip to cultural sites in the Portland Metro area that reflect cultural diversity and interests of the peoples of Africa.
Guest lecturers and speakers that are from this region, or have lived, worked and/or studied in the region
A Model-UN Unity Conference
Literary and arts activities
A cultural evening, including a banquet
