DLP Spanish Language Arts 9 is a continuation of the Todos Unidos Dual Language Program Spanish
Language coursework. This is a course designed to develop and improve a student’s linguistic and academic skills in Spanish. This course offers Spanish-speaking students an opportunity to study Spanish formally, in an academic setting, in the same way that English-speaking students study English
Language Arts. It is designed for 9th grade students to strengthen their reading, writing, speaking,
listening, and critical thinking skills. Units of study include novels, short stories, essays, and poetry
including authentic Latin American and Spanish texts. Students will focus on literary forms and elements and develop narrative, explanatory, and argumentative writing skills. Students will have the opportunity to complete both reading and writing work samples for their graduation requirement.

DLP Spanish Language Arts 10 is a continuation of the Todos Unidos Dual Language Program Spanish
Language coursework. This course offers Spanish-speaking students an opportunity to study Spanish formally, in an academic setting, in the same way that English-speaking students study English Language Arts. This course is designed for sophomores to develop their writing and comprehension skills as a continuation of skills learned in DLP Spanish Language Arts 9. Writing techniques will be learned and practiced with a variety of assignments including expository, creative, and persuasive. Students will explore several types of authentic Latin American and Spanish literature, which include short stories, novels and poetry. In addition, all students will work on speaking and discussion skills. Students will prepare work samples for their graduation requirement.

DLP Spanish Global Studies is a continuation of the Todos Unidos Dual Language Program Spanish
Language coursework. DLP Global Studies is a course designed to introduce, examine, and investigate people and places in the world. The course will include a study of the earth and its physical environment. After a foundation in geographic skills is established, the course will focus on cultural regions of the world including historic and current events aligned to the Oregon Social Science Standards. This course fulfills the 9th grade Global Studies requirement.
