Speech and debate educator of the year

Our Speech and Debate program at OCHS is thriving thanks to the incredible leadership of our teacher, Mr. David Barringer, who has just been honored with an Oregon Speech Educator of the Year Award! This award recognizes their commitment to fostering students' confidence, public speaking skills, and analytical abilities. We are so proud of their dedication to our students' growth and success. Congratulations!

Info about the award appears in our OSAA Speech handbook, where it describes it this way: "Each year, the association may honor a member of the speech education field as Speech Educator of the Year. To be considered, the educator must be nominated in writing. The nomination form should address the qualities of the nominee based on some or all of the following criteria: level of involvement in speech and related activities (the nominee need not be presently coaching or in the classroom but needs to have made significant contributions to this field); demonstration of commitment or dedication to improvement of speech curriculum; demonstration to students and professional peers of model behavior; and receipt of other professional awards."

Thank you, Mr. Barringer, for your dedication to OCHS Students.
