NW Noggin visiting CAP Classes
January 25, 2024
Dr. Bill Griesar and his college/graduate student volunteers with Northwest Noggin visited OCHS's Comparative Anatomy classes. They brought human and animal brains, talked about their research and answered student questions about neuroscience. Some student questions included:
"How does memory work? What happens when we get a concussion? How does a traumatic brain injury impact the brain? Why is it harder for some people to pay attention? What does a drug like adderall do to the brain in someone with ADHD? And what does it do to the brain of someone without ADHD? When they say teenage brains are underdeveloped, what do they mean? How does caffeine impact human brains?"
Students also made pipe cleaner models of neurons with artist Jeff Leake.
