Greg Timmons Hired as Principal, Ryan Renwick as Assistant Principal

Oregon City High School will be seeing two new faces in the hallways next school year, as Mr. Greg Timmons and Ryan Renwick join our district as the head principal and assistant principal.

Greg Timmons comes from 25 successful years of administrative experience at all levels and is known for creating a positive learning environment in schools. 

“I'm honored to have been selected for this position,” he said. “I’m looking forward to building relationships within our community and with our students, staff, and parents. That’s why we do our work.”

Mr. Timmons has spent most of his career in Oregon working within the Hillsboro School District. He started as the assistant principal at J.B. Thomas Middle School in 1998, then became an elementary principal and also served at Poynter Middle School. His most recent position was head principal at Liberty High School, where he served as head principal for a successful nine years.

While at Liberty High School, Greg Timmons led the innovative work that resulted in the 89% four year graduation rate and to the raising of the graduation rate of the Latinx population to within half a percent of the school’s average. He also led work to expand CTE (career and technology education) offerings, provide more opportunities for inclusion for students with special needs and establish systems and structures for student academic and personal goal attainment.

He holds a bachelor’s in social studies from Northwest Nazarene College in Idaho, and a master’s in educational management from the University of La Verne in California.

“It’s going to be wonderful to have Mr. Timmons supporting the great work at OCHS.  His experience, systems thinking and student centered leadership is a perfect match,” said Dr. Dayle Spitzer. 


Ryan Renwick

Ryan Renwick
Mr. Ryan Renwick will be serving OCHS as the new assistant principal. 

He comes to us from Reynolds High School where he worked as a MTSS TOSA for two years. He is a dedicated educational leader with a passion for student success and whole-child development. He has over a decade of experience teaching and leading in Japan, Australia, and here in Oregon. Mr. Renwick has a background in adolescent development and creating student-centered learning environments that emphasize creativity and critical thinking. As an administrator, Renwick has experience building district-wide and site-based systems to increase student achievement. He grounds his approach in connections and community, creating collaborative, supportive environments where students can flourish.

A highlight of his career has been developing pathways to raise voices of historically underserved communities and leveraging relationships with community partners to remove barriers to learning.

Recently, Mr. Renwick was a building principal for Reynolds Learning Academy summer program, where he used improvement science strategies to increase attendance and graduation rates.

Mr. Renwick holds a bachelor of arts from Willamette University, a master of arts in Teaching from Warner Pacific, and a master of science in Educational Leadership and Policy from Portland State University and plans to pursue a terminal degree in education in the year 2025.

In his free time, Mr. Renwick enjoys adventuring outdoors. He likes playing disc golf, snowboarding, rock climbing and whitewater kayaking with his family and friends.
