Outdoor School Volunteers
Outdoor School will run from March 6th - June 2nd this spring. Have fun and learn a lot as a Student Leader of sixth-graders at Outdoor School for one week, and you can earn community service hours & college credit. 10th – 12th graders are eligible. Students interested in being new Student Leaders at Outdoor School should attend one training at a location of their choice between February 5th - mid-March. There will be a training in the OCHS commons on Wednesday, Feb. 22nd from 6:00 - 8:45 PM. OCHS students are especially desired to be Student Leaders for sixth-grade classes from CAIS, Tumwata MS and Gardiner MS, schools that will attend during different weeks this spring. Any weeks work, if you're not available to assist one of those schools. Visit the Student Services Office for sign-up cards, or go to www.nwoutdoorschool.org to register online.
OnSite Training scheduled on Wednesday, March 22nd
Location: OCHS upper & lower commons from 6:00 - 8:45 PM
UPDATE: Wednesday, February 22
Due to predicted snow/ice setting up this evening, Outdoor School is notifying all people who submitted online RSVPs to attend tonight's training, via email and text message, as well as their parent/guardians via email, about this switch and including a Zoom link.
Note: dates shown are dates that high school Student Leaders will be on-site - they arrive one day before sixth-graders arrive, for a day of on-site training with our staff.
CAIS: March 6th - 10th (Mon-Fri) at Camp Magruder
Tumwata MS: April 10th - 14th (Mon-Fri) at Camp Magruder and Camp Meriwether
Gardiner MS: May 22nd - 26th (Mon-Fri) at Camp Magruder and Camp Meriwether
Those sites are right on the beach of the Oregon coast. Camp Magruder is in Rockaway Beach and Camp Meriwether is near Cape Lookout State Park, just southwest of Tillamook. www.nwoutdoorschool.org features info on each site.
We welcome OCHS 10th - 12th graders to volunteer for any of our twelve weeks this spring at any of our five sites, though it'd be especially nice to have some OCHS students serve as Student Leaders for OCSD sixth-graders.
