Great job Pios! JROTC traveled to Washington on Saturday to compete against seven other schools in their division. Our Unarmed Drill Team placed 1st place again, and is now undefeated in 3 straight years. Unarmed Drill Team Commander Cadet Hannah Abbott placed first in the Unit Commander Category. Both Color Guard Teams took 2nd place in their categories; and Cadet Caleb Strampher took 2nd place in the Color Guard team commander category. The Armed Drill Team placed third. The Academic team took 2nd place, with Cadet Payton Solarski placing first for his individual academic test score. Both Marksmanship Teams placed third. These placements earned them the Overall Division Trophy. Now those teams advance to the Conference Championship up near Seattle. Great job JROTC!

In celebration of Black History Month here at OCHS, we will be highlighting famous figures of Black history during morning announcements throughout the month of February: Carol Moseley Braun was elected in 1992 to represent Illinois in the U.S. Senate, a seat she held until 1998. She was the first African American woman elected to the Senate.
Have a great day OC!
