“Can I tell you a secret?” This weekend, come see the drama department’s production of Trap, a horror documentary-style play. Tickets are $5 at the door for students who show their OCHS ID. And remember, “DON’T tell the secret.”
Come support unified basketball senior night tonight at 5:00. No charge. We hope to see you there! In celebration of Black History Month here at OCHS, we will be highlighting famous figures of Black history during morning announcements throughout the month of February: “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” – Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela (1918-2013) was a human rights activist and the first black President of South Africa. Before his time as president, he was a lawyer who participated in anti-Apartheid activism, which made him a target of the state. In 1964, he was sentenced to life in jail. In 1990, he was released and led negotiations to end apartheid. Mandela was no stranger to fear, and as his quote says, being brave is about conquering fear.Have a great day OC!
