D-Day

Interest Meeting: June 3, 2024

An interest meeting for an upcoming trip to France to participate in the 2025 D-Day commemorative events. This trip will provide a unique opportunity to honor the bravery and sacrifices made during the D-Day landings and immerse ourselves in the rich history of World War II.

Meeting Details:
Date: 3 June 2024
Time: 6-7pm
Location: JROTC Classroom (J-Building)

During the meeting, we will discuss the itinerary, costs, and preparation required for the trip. Attached is the Tour Schedule and Application Form that has some of the pricing information.  I am looking at the 8 day 6 night with no additions plus air fare which will be approximately $4000.  Cadets should be able to fundraise the trip cost, if they participate in the "Team Normandy" fundraising activities over the next 10-12 months.  Parents and family can also register if they want to come along with the group and observe the ceremonies.

Background:
In 2019, I had the privilege of leading a group of 13 JROTC Cadets to France. Our Cadets who were Seniors participated in a ceremony in Paris where they received their diplomas. This was a remarkable experience that left a lasting impact on all involved, highlighting the educational and cultural benefits of the trip.

Key Highlights of the Trip:
Participation in D-Day commemorative events at historic sites in Normandy.
Special ceremony where Graduating Senior cadets receive their diploma certificates. (likely 9 Jun 25)
Visits to significant World War II landmarks and museums.
Cultural excursions to explore the rich heritage of France.
