career spotlight

On Thursday, April 9, 2026. Oregon City High School recently opened its doors to a diverse group of industry professionals for our Career Spotlight event. This initiative provided students with a unique "front-row seat" to various career paths, bridging the gap between classroom learning and the professional world.

Knowledge from the Pros

Our guest speakers represented a wide array of sectors—from technology and healthcare to the trades and creative arts. Students had the opportunity to:

  • Engage in Q&A Sessions: Getting the "real scoop" on daily responsibilities and industry challenges.

  • Discover Educational Paths: Learning about the certifications, degrees, and apprenticeships required to succeed.

  • Network: Making early connections with local leaders and potential mentors.

Why It Matters

Events like these are more than just a break from the standard curriculum; they are vital for career readiness. By hearing firsthand accounts of professional journeys—including the inevitable setbacks and triumphs—students leave feeling more empowered to make informed decisions about their own futures.

"Seeing someone who actually does the job every day makes it feel much more achievable. It turns a vague 'dream' into a concrete plan." — Student Attendee

A huge thank you to our community partners and guest speakers for investing their time in the next generation of OCHS graduates!
