The start of the winter sports season has arrived.  Some of our OC teams started competition last week.  See below for their results and also this week’s games/contest/events schedule.

Below you will find results from last week on how the Oregon City teams fared.

 

Swimming (Head Coach Bryan Watt, assistant coaches Olivia Watt, and Josh Morton)

The Pioneer swimmers open up their season on Thursday, December 6 when they host the Tualatin Timberwolves at the OC Community Pool.

 

Cheer and Dance (Head Coach Lisa Ramage, assistant coaches Lindsay Mead, Hailey Thomas, and Allyson Sewell)

Pioneer Cheer and Dance have been busy competing at several venues over the last few weeks.

 

On November 3rd, the Jets competed at Rex Putnam and took 2nd place in the Hip Hop division.   On November 10th, 3 Cheerleaders competed individually at OCCA All-State competition. Senior Alexis Pearson finished 14th in the state in 6A.  Sophomore Sophia Davis finishing 34th in the state in 6A and Sophomore Averie Ensign finishing 39th in the state in 6A.

 

On November 17th, the Jets competed at Reynolds and took 2nd place in the Hip Hop division. And on December 1st the Jets competed in Fall Category Championships at West Linn. They placed 4th in the State with a season-high score of 76.27 in the large Hip-Hop division.

 

This wraps up their competitive Fall season and are now looking forward to competing this Winter in both OSAA State Cheer and Dance.

Boys & Girls Wrestling (Head Coach Bobby Bates, assistant coaches Tony Rolen, Jim Marshall, Jordan Brewer, Kyle Sether, Michael McCoy, Jared Groner, Natasha Umemoto, and Ryan LaDouceur)

The Oregon City Wrestling team battled at the 4th annual Tyrone S Woods Memorial Tournament last Saturday OCHS. The team placed 10th out of 21 teams. Everyone battled hard and there was a lot of promising things out of our young wrestlers in their first high school wrestling experience! The older guys also showed a lot of grit and started off on a good step after a successful end to last year.

The Pios take on David Douglas and Sandy in a double dual at David Douglas on Wednesday, Dec 5th. Wrestling starts at 5 pm.

 

OC Girl's Wrestling Team wrestled there first ever girl’s tournament in Hillsboro on Saturday. The girls had an amazing day of wrestling!

The girls will travel to Westview High School this Saturday, December 8 for the “War of the Roses” wrestling tournament.

 

Girls Basketball (Head Coach Tiffani Traver, assistant coaches Jess Anderson, Chelsi Brewer, and Jade Lowery

Varsity- The Lady Pioneers opened the season with a 66-25 win at home against Clackamas. The team came out to an aggressive start and led 11-2 at the end of the first quarter. Every OC player that played, scored. Brooke Bullock led the team with 14 pts, 11 rebounds, 6 steals, and 4 assists. Emily Fortin had 14 pts, Katie Kathan had 11 pts and 4 steals and Tyra Bradford finished with 5 pts, 6 assists, and 7 steals.

 

Saturday, they played #1 Southridge at their place. The girls never backed down and kept playing hard the entire game. The final score was 64-48. Emily Fortin led with 15 pts and 5 rebounds. Katie Kathan had 13 pts and 5 rebounds. Tyra Bradford had 8 pts and 4 assists. Brooke Bullock had 6 pts, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 assists.

 

The Lady Pioneers will travel to Beaverton this Friday, December 7 to take on the Beavers at 7:00 pm.

 

JV- No games played yet.  They will host the Kennedy Trojans tonight in a 7:00 pm game at OC.  They will travel to Beaverton this Friday, December 7 to take on the Beavers at 5:30 pm.

Boys Basketball (Head Coach Aaron Newkirk, assistant coaches Brad Crosby, Eric Chirgwin, Kenrik Lynch, Jake Rondema, Ralph Austin, and Lyle Rinearson)
